Description
The Mile End Effects Pique is a guitar effects pedal that combines a dynamic preamplifier/boost, a high-headroom buffer, and a harmonic enhancer in one unit. Its boost/preamp circuit is rooted in Mile End Effects' Preamp 150, an homage to the preamp section of the Roland RE-150 Space Echo. Controls are a single Level knob, four rocker switches (Boost, Brilliance, High Freq, Low Freq), and a master footswitch. The High Frequency switch applies 1.6 kHz op-amp saturation to upper frequencies only; the Brilliance switch is a bright-cap-style capacitor filter that cuts low end and emphasizes mids and highs; the Low Frequency switch engages a phase-shifted low-pass filter that adds saturation and compression to the low end. With all switches disengaged the pedal operates as a standalone buffer; the footswitch disengages the buffer when the pedal is off. Power is 9V DC centre negative with a 250 mA current draw. Handcrafted in Montréal, Québec, Canada, and covered by a lifetime warranty.
