Avalon Design V55 is a dual-channel Pure Class A microphone preamplifier, DI and re-amp device. The black version is the black-finish variant of the same V55 platform. Avalon specifies a 100% discrete, high-voltage Class A dual-channel topology with line, instrument-DI, microphone high-Z and microphone low-Z input modes. Gain is switched in 2 dB steps; ranges include -3 to +36 dB for line, +2 to +42 dB for instrument, +20 to +60 dB for mic high-Z and +26 to +66 dB for mic low-Z. Inputs include transformer-balanced line and microphone paths plus 10 Mohm instrument DI; outputs include DC-coupled balanced line output, transformer-isolated instrument-level re-amp output, buffered thru and headphone output. Other features include 48 V phantom power, passive pad, high cut, polarity switching, ten-position passive Tone-Bank, VU metering and peak LEDs.
