The Manley Reference Cardioid is a tube microphone with a fixed cardioid pattern and 6-micron gold-sputtered diaphragm. It features a rich, liquid tonal character with presence in the high frequencies and strong proximity effect, designed to work well on vocals, guitars, drums, and saxophones. The capsule construction shares electronic characteristics with the Gold Reference Series while recalling vintage European tube microphone sound.
