Description
The Royer R-122 MKII features a switchable -15 dB pad positioned before the microphone's electronics to prevent distortion on loud sources, and a switchable bass-cut filter that begins at 100 Hz at 6 dB per octave to reduce proximity effect. Both switches are recessed on the back and completely bypass the circuit when disengaged. The microphone uses a hand-wired, Royer-designed toroidal transformer that provides faster transient response than traditional ribbon designs. Its higher output level allows use with standard microphone preamplifiers.
