Intended use

Use Recordists who need a full-spec cardioid condenser in a miniature package: the capsule and amplifier are integrated into one compact body with a detachable Lemo connector, which suits boom, film/location, and discreet spot- or concert-miking positions where a standard-size mic is intrusive. Auto-switching P48/P12 powering (4 mA at P48) and the ability to drive cables longer than 400 m make it practical on bag rigs and long installed runs. With 15 dB-A self-noise, 13 mV/Pa sensitivity, and 136 dB max SPL at P48, it covers quiet acoustic sources through loud spot-miked instruments, and the cardioid pattern's 20-30 dB rear rejection plus 4.8 dB diffuse-field attenuation helps in reverberant rooms and on stages with monitor bleed.
Not for Anyone who needs in-mic gain management: there is no switchable pad and the low-cut is fixed at 20 Hz, so sources exceeding 136 dB SPL (128 dB when running on P12) or workflows that rely on switchable filtering need a different microphone. Users who want to plug straight into standard XLR chains without a Lemo cable should look at the CCM 4 K fixed-cable XLR-3M version (order no. 121016) instead of this Lemo variant. Frequency response starts at 40 Hz, so work that demands capture below that point is outside its stated range.

Description

Product details

The SCHOEPS CCM 4 Lg is a compact small-diaphragm cardioid condenser microphone that integrates capsule and amplifier in one miniature housing. In SCHOEPS naming, "L" denotes the detachable Lemo connector version and "g" the matte gray finish (nickel "ni" is the alternative); order number 121015 is the CCM 4 L, while 121016 is the CCM 4 K fixed-cable XLR-3M version. The cardioid pattern attenuates sound by 6 dB at 90 degrees and 20-30 dB at the rear, picking up 4.8 dB less diffuse sound than frontal sound. Frequency range is 40 Hz - 20,000 Hz, sensitivity 13 mV/Pa, equivalent noise 15 dB-A (24 dB CCIR), and signal-to-noise ratio 79 dB-A. Maximum SPL is 136 dB at 48 V phantom power and 128 dB at P12 (THD under 0.5%); an older CCM manual lists 132 dB. It runs on P48 (over 40 V) or P12 (over 10 V) phantom power, automatically switched, drawing 4 mA at P48. A fixed 20 Hz low-cut (-3 dB, 12 dB/octave) is built in; there is no switchable filter or pad. Output impedance is 90 ohms at 1 kHz (600-ohm minimum load), maximum output 2.6 V into 2 kOhms, common-mode rejection over 55 dB at 1 kHz, and it can drive cables longer than 400 m.
