Description
For sale is an exceptionally rare, first-year production Boss BF-2 Flanger, Made in Japan (MIJ).
This is the coveted Silver Screw / Black Label version. If you know your Boss history, you know the silver screw was only used during the first few months of the BF-2's 20-year production run (circa 1980). These early units are famous for their thick, analog sweeping tones—the exact sound used by Robert Smith of The Cure and Prince.
Key Features:
-
Origin: Made in Japan (Black Label).
-
Hardware: Original metal Silver Screw (indicator of 1980/81 production).
-
Circuit: 100% original analog circuitry.
-
Condition: Good condition, though one knob is not original, and it smells of it's age - Pots are in great shape considering age!
Why buy the Silver Screw version? Unlike the later Taiwanese or green-label models, these early Japanese units are built with higher-grade components and have a warmth that modern digital flangers simply cannot replicate. It’s a "Set and Forget" piece of gear that will only continue to go up in value.
Note for Buyers: This is an ACA circuit pedal. To get the best headroom, it performs best with a 12V supply or a 9V battery (or chained with other modern pedals on a power brick).
Condition: Good
